Lincoln Brewster

With fresh sounds, rich vocals, and thought-provoking lyrics, Lincoln Brewster offers his most definitive work to date. The album's grooves are ripe with rock/pop infused melodic hooks, fun and spirited in one, poignantly reflective in the next.

 Review

This kid knows how to rock. More than that, however, he knows how to worship God with a joyful heart….and a joyful noise. Combining virtuoso guitar prowess and heartfelt lyrics of worship, Brewster has released a third CD of pop-rock-and-worship songs for the young and the young at heart. With songs ranging from wide-open praise to quiet-time worship, Brewster displays an impressive range of talent on Amazed.. He takes more opportunities to slow things down here than on previous efforts, allowing a nice breathing space between the harder rock oriented tunes to reflect on the simple goodness of God. Still, Brewster doesn’t stray too far away from the distortion pedal here.

He opens the CD with a set of rocking praise songs and then drops things down slightly on “All I Really Want,” picks things up again on “Everybody Praise The Lord,” then slows a bit again on “More Like You.” Watch out on track 7! Brewster buries the best track here and dares you to keep your fingers off the repeat button with a great rock groove on “Glory To The King.” Brewster is especially impressive on the higher-energy cuts like “Let The Praises Ring,” and “Everybody Praise The Lord” where he is really in his element.

It’s like owning an expensive sports car and driving 55 mph on the freeway with it. (Not that I do own one, but stay with me here). It’s gorgeous to look at it in traffic, but when you get the chance to find an open highway and really cut loose with it, you know you’ve found the reason a car like this is ever made. Brewster was made to worship, and to worship with a loud, joyful noise. It’s easy to get the sense that Brewster doesn’t have to dig very deep to find inspiration for these songs of love to Christ. They seem to drip from his tongue and flow from his guitar with an effortless abandon that instills joy and inspires worship. There’s no doubt that if Brewster weren’t making CDs for a living, he’d still be on his knees somewhere with a guitar in his hands, writing songs of worship from a heart that’s intoxicated with a holy love for God.
